The Uttar Pradesh Shia Central Waqf Board has submitted a peace proposal to Supreme Court saying that a temple can be built in Ayodhya and a mosque in Lucknow for the settlement of decades old dispute over Ram Janmabhoomi and Babri Masjid.
The board told the court that the suggestion would bring a harmony between the Hindus and the Muslims in the country.
New Delhi, Dec 24 : The CPI-M has urged the Uttar Pradesh government to stop all activity by the VHP aimed at constructing a grand temple to Hindu god Ram, saying this violates judicial directives.
"The Ayodhya dispute is with the Supreme Court and there is a longstanding judicial directive to maintain status quo at the site where the Babri Masjid stood," said an editorial in the CPI-M's People's Democracy.
New Delhi, Dec 22 : The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has said that there was no indication from Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya.
In a statement on Monday, VHP general secretary Champat Rai said: "VHP is of the view that Ram Mandir at Ayodhya should be built through an act of parliament. VHP has always respected the court and have faith on it."
Lucknow, Dec 21 : Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Monday asked his chief secretary and other senior officials to ensure that the status quo was maintained at the disputed site in Ayodhya.
The directions came amid reports that work has been initiated to chisel stones and rocks at Karsewakpuram in the temple town with regard to Ram temple construction.
"Now, the time has come for the construction of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. Lot of stones arrived today in Ayodhya. And now the arrival of stones will continue. We have signals from Modi Government that Mandir construction would be done now," he said...
