Chinese vendors dye their cute puppies to look just like tiger cubs… only for them to die painfully within weeks due to toxic inks.
Chinese street sellers have been found to endanger the lives of puppies by dying them with toxic inks to make them look like tiger cubs.
A resident, surnamed Li, from the Yongchuan district of Chonqing in central China spotted a vendor selling the unusual-looking animals in a local park last weekend, reports People's Daily Online.
The seller is reported to have claimed that the tiger dogs were a 'valuable rare breed' and was attempting to sell the unfortunate creatures for 260 yuan (£27) each.
Veterinary experts from Chongqing Animal Hospital said that the puppies could die within a week if vendors did not use high-quality products, and asked the public not to be fooled into purchasing one.
Shortly after being dyed, the canines can lick their fur and ingest the toxic ink, leading to chronic illness and an early death - with many users on the internet calling them 'week dogs'.
