Protesting against the proposed visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Odisha, Maoists resorted to mayhem at Doikalu railway station in Rayagada district of Odisha at around midnight on Thursday.
Armed naxalites resorted to a blast inside the station and also damaged engine of a goods train. Several trains were detained due to this violence. Maoists left behind handwritten posters at Doikalu station. The posters opposed the policies of Modi government and Naveen Patnaik government. Through a poster they also protested against visit of the PM to Odisha on April 15 and 16 to attend BJP’s national executive meeting.
According to station master, S.K. Parida, about 15 to 20 armed Maoists had entered the station at around 12.15 a.m. They pushed out the railway officials and bombed. Another group of Maoists had stopped a goods train that arrived at the station. It is suspected that they tried to blast the engine of the goods train. The attackers escaped from the spot at around 2 a.m.

Bhubaneswar, Oct 18: As many as 19 people have died and over 100 were left injured in a major fire broke
out at Bhubaneswar's Institute of Medical Sciences and SUM Hospital. The fire have started at the dialysis ward in the first floor and subsequently spread to the ICU and other nearby wards around 7 pm. DGP (fire services) Binoy Behera said, "We suspect the fire occurred due to an electric short circuit in the dialysis ward."
According to initial reports, 22 people were declared dead by privately-owned AMRI Hospital and government-owned Capital, where the patients are admitted after evacuation. Later Chief Secretary of Odisha, Aditya Padhi has confirmed that 19 people were killed during fire. All the patients have been evacuated and are being treated in other hospitals, with most patients admitted in AIIMS Bhubaneswar.

His life and work is a case study in Harvard University. This year he was awarded with the Padma Sri. Many may not be knowing, he was nominated for Nobel Prize for Literature in the year 2008.
