
There are around 50 lakh central government employees and 58 lakh central government pensioners in India which amounts to 1.08 crore population. The total estimated population of India is 125 crores (2013 est.). Out of which 31.4% of the population are below the age group of 15. Eliminating the said percentage, there are about 80.79 crore adults in India. Out of 80.79 crore people in India, 1.08 crore people are employees of Central Government, which means 1 in every 75 persons in India is a Central Government Employee.
With the implementation of 7th pay commission salary hike, 1 in every 75 Indians will be directly benefited. The Central Government on yesterday announced 23.4% hike in the salaries, allowances, pensions for its employees. The Government is about to spend Rs.1.02 lakh crore for its employees every year on their salary.
