Vijay on online abuse: Everybody has the right to criticise anyone's film newsreporter.in
Recently, Dhanya Rajendran, editor-in-chief of The News Minute, wrote a simple tweet on Jab Harry Met Sejal -- that she walked out of the film halfway through, while she waited till interval for Vijay's Sura (2009). After the tweet went viral, several Vijay's fans trolled, abused and threatened Dhanya Rajendran for criticising a film that released eight years back. Breaking his silence, Vijay on Wednesday issued a statement and asked his fans not to abuse women and that everyone has the right to like/dislike a film.
In the statement written in Tamil, Vijay said, "I am someone who respects women a lot. Everybody has the right to criticise anyone's film. It is my view that no woman should be spoken of in a demeaning way for any reason or any time. Everyone has to praise womanhood. I request that nobody should share hurtful and wrong views about women on social media."

See how low people go in the name of fans (vijay fans in this case)...
A free society is where anything in public domain can be debated, opinionated without insults and abuses.
We belong to a crazy society where one can be personally abused to the lowest possible way just because they have a opinion of some film, hero, practice (religion, religious, cultural), political agenda, public service or even a tv actress...
Cool down.. debates and arguments are there just to put ones opinion for assessment and not there to push ones opinion down others throat...
Why I feel its important: We as a society can progress only when we have open minds for open debates on subjects that are of common importance or those in public domain...
A debate in itself is not an insult.....
