Cuban President Raul Castro said on state television that his older brother died at 10-29 p.m. Friday. He ended the announcement by shouting the revolutionary slogan - “Towards victory, always!”
Fidel Castro Ruz was born in Aug. 13, 1926, in eastern Cuba. He studied law and social science in University of Havana. He was arrested for and locked in prison after the famous 1953 Moncada military attack.
Castro fled to Mexico after getting pardon and returned back to Cuba as a rebel in 1956 and went on to build a rebel force. In July 1957, Castro's rebel force had around 200 members divided into three army columns, commanded by himself, his brother, and Che Guevara.
