Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Egypt and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) announced today to cut off diplomatic ties with Qatar accusing the Arab country of supporting terror organisations and 'destabilising security of the region'.
An official statement by Saudi Arabia said it has discontinued all diplomatic relations and land, sea and air contacts with fellow Gulf Arab state Qatar on, saying the move was necessary to protect the kingdom from what it described as terrorism and extremism.

The pilot of the EgyptAir Airbus 320 asked permission to land at Larnaca airport claiming a hijack while the plane was over Cyprus.
The aircraft took off from the Alexandria airport around 8 am heading for Cairo with 81 people on board. The pilot requested permission to land at Larnaca airport, citing a hijacking which happened around 8:50.
A crisis team rushed to the airport to deal with the situation and the necessary consultations but the hijackers have not submitted any request so far.
