Italy, Aug 24: A magnitude of 6.2 earthquake struck the central Italy, with reports of damaged buildings and blackouts near the epicentre, Rieti. Two people were killed in the earthquake, which sent residents fleeing their homes and running out of the streets.
According to US Geological Survey, Earthquake hit about 10 kilometers southeast of Norcia at 3:36 a.m. The USGS initially reported the magnitude of the quake at 6.4 and it was followed by several powerful aftershocks. An hour after the initial quake, 5.5 magnitude aftershock hit just four kilometers north of the same town.
