Sep 12: A magnitude 5.7 earthquake that struck northwest Tanzania, close to Lake Victoria and the borders of Uganda and Rwanda, has killed atleast 16 people and injured almost 253 members, informed local authorities on Sunday.
Tanzanian premier Kassim Majaliwa has headed to the worst-hit city, Bukoba, to attend a ceremony. He told people that, "This tragic event is unprecedented. We've never known this in our country, the government is with you. It will not abandon you."
